Description
Overview
The AVI is first installed smart oxygen system integrated with avionics, the HealthView, iOS, and the Aithre suite of health technology products, delivering smart pulsed oxygen based on factors such as pressure altitude, respiration rate, oximetry, heart rate, and carbon monoxide.
SYSTEMS OVERVIEW
The AVI system is a complete kit for health and hypoxia management in light aircraft, including the AVI control unit, HealthView, Illyrian oximeters, Aithre Boom Cannulas, Shield carbon monoxide detector, carbon fiber composite bottles, plumbing, ports, mounts, and more. The system is everything you need for installation to support oxygen delivery in combination with health monitoring of blood oxygen, heart rate, carbon monoxide, oxygen flow, and more.
MORE PERMANENT SEMI-BUILT-IN SYSTEM
AVI is designed as a a more permanent semi-built-in oxygen system. We coined the term semi-built-in to describe the oxygen system because the plumbing is hidden while the bottle is accessible and removable. This is an improvement of the fully-built-in systems because the bottles are easier to fill at small FBOs or to remove when not needed, yet the install is clean, tidy, and professional. However, the AVI is otherwise a fully-built-in system because the control unit is ship powered and the plumbing lines are routed behind paneling and concealed with panel-mounted cannula plugs.
Healthview
HEALTHVIEW, AITHRE CONNECT iOS, AND AVIONICS SUPPORT
Aithre has pioneered the integration of health biometrics into the avionics of the aircraft, and the Turbo is no exception: the Turbo O2i constantly monitors total flow, onboard temperature, pressure altitude, oxygen injection flow, bottle oxygen pressure, and faults. Data is output via serial to the Aithre HealthView and via BLE to the Aithre Connect iOS app. For supporting avionics, a discrete output 0-12V may be connected to throw a display message in response to a fault condition.
HEALTHVIEW II WITH ATD
Available now as a variant is the HealthView II with the Air Avionics ATD-57, ATD-11, or ATD-80. The ATD is a multi-function instrument that is low profile with high visibility graphics and tactile input controls.
The HealthView II with the Air Avionics ATD fits within standard cutouts to output all Aithre oxygen and biometric health information and provide a rich set of controls over the Avi and Turbo oxygen systems.
The HealthView II with the ATD features over 60 customizable color health fields across 9 custom pages with per station control of oxygen dosing and Turbo injection control. All Aithre devices and their associated data will display either via BLE or the serial communication channels, including Shield, Metis, Avi, Turbo, and Illyrian products.
The ATD with the HealthView II is modular and can be optionally expanded to provide ADS-B weather and traffic. Additional license and/or equipment is required for the weather and traffic functionality. The companion ACD instrument is available from Air Avionics to provide communication radio, transponder, and altimeter functionality with a matching control head interface.
Power input to the HealthView II and ATD is 12-30V with a power draw of under 20mA at 12V.
HEALTHVIEW III WITH ATD
Available now as a variant is the HealthView III with the Air Avionics ATD-57, ATD-11, or ATD-80. The Healthview III operates similarly to the Healthview II, but the difference is that the Healthview III has an integrated Shield carbon monoxide detector and wired hookups for the Metis OAT probe, Illyrian II oximeters, analog voltage outputs for the GEA24 and SV-EMS, and standard DSUB connectors. The Healthview III also supports a panel carbon monoxide indicator light and more reliable health data through the dedicated wire connections.
Power input to the HealthView III and ATD is 12-30V with a power draw of under 20mA at 12V.
OXYGEN DELIVERY
Each station includes an independent pulse circuit. Simply activate the system and breathe while monitoring the flow and delivery in the HealthView or the Aithre Connect iOS app. The AVI adjusts dosage automatically based on pressure altitude and provides for further user customization and emergency overrides.
The pulse systems is the first ever to based on MEMS flow measurements as opposed to pressure measurements. This technology provides enhanced inhalation detection plus real-time flow rate determinations and accurate respiration rate feedback.
To provide smoother oxygen delivery, the AVI delivers each pulse of oxygen as a series of micro bursts with each inhalation. The micro bursts start immediately upon inhalation and extend over the first critical portion of the inhalation cycle. The number and spacing of the microbursts are adjusted in real-time and customized for each inhalation based on respiration length and pressure altitude.
ALTUS WIRELESS PRESSURE GAUGE
The AVI includes the Aithre Altus Meso wireless tank pressure gauge, which allows for monitoring the oxygen pressure remaining while the bottle is out of sight. Readings from 0-2500 PSI are transmitted to the HealthView and the Aithre Connect iOS app to supplement the analog pressure gauge.
ILLYRIAN OXIMETERS
The AVI system includes two Illyrian II oximeters for pilot and co-pilot. The Illyrian wearable oximeter provides continuous real-time SPO2 and heart rate information to the HealthView and to the Aithre Connect iOS app. Advanced features include head movement and cabin altitude monitoring with haptic vibration feedback.
AITHRE BOOM CANNULAS
While the AVI system includes two silicone cannulas, the AVI system additionally includes two Aithre Boom Cannulas to make oxygen delivery safer and more comfortable. The Boom Cannula features a low profile aluminum anodized swivel adapter and an articulating boom arm, make oxygen delivery as easy and convenient as talking on the microphone. When not in use, the Boom Arm can be pushed or swiveled up and out of the way and can be easily recharged with a new nasal arm after extended periods of use.
AITHRE SHIELD CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR
No oxygen system is complete without the Aithre Shield carbon monoxide detector, so the AVI system includes either the Shield EX 3.0 (experimental) or eDOT 5.0 (certified). The Shield CO detectors offer superior 10 year no recalibration service with sensitivity below 10 ppm and responsiveness of under 60 seconds.
BACKUP COMPOSITE BOTTLE
The system includes a standalone 47L carbon fiber composite bottle with a fixed flow regulator that outputs approximately 0.5 LPM for 2 hrs. This handheld bottle is designed to supply a simple independent flow of oxygen for pilot use in the event of any system failure or leakage. The bottle can be stowed and secured in a flight bag or seat back pocket for additional peace of mind during flight.
