Overview
The M83519 is a MIL-spec solder sleeve shield terminator used for terminating cable shields in aerospace, military, avionics, and high-reliability electrical systems. It is commonly manufactured by TE Connectivity / Raychem and complies with the SAE AS83519 / MIL-S-83519 specification.
The M83519 is designed to:
- Terminate braided cable shields
- Provide environmental sealing
- Deliver EMI/RFI shielding continuity
- Create a reliable soldered ground connection
It uses a heat-shrinkable transparent sleeve with:
- Pre-fluxed solder preform
- Thermoplastic sealing rings
- Environmental encapsulation
- Strain relief
When heated, the solder melts and bonds the shield while the sleeve shrinks to seal the connection
